QUICK ANSWER
Test the internet, not just the Wi-Fi icon.
Open a known website and one other internet-dependent app. If both fail, turn Wi-Fi off and on once, then restart the BOOX normally. Check that its date, time and time zone are correct. If the same network still fails, try one different trusted network or personal hotspot.
If the second network works, do not factory-reset the tablet. The first route may need a browser sign-in, enterprise credentials or a network-owner check. If every independent network fails, or internet repeatedly stops while BOOX still shows Wi-Fi connected, update through BOOX's official route when possible and submit Feedback with logs after one clean reproduction.
FIND THE PATTERN
One app, one network and every network point in different directions
A filled Wi-Fi symbol means the BOOX has joined a local wireless network. It does not prove that the router can reach the internet, that a school login is complete or that one app can reach its own service.
Only one app is offline
The Wi-Fi link may be fine. Test a webpage, check that app for an update, and avoid resetting the whole tablet.
Home, work or campus fails
Authentication, a sign-in page, filtering or compatibility on that route is more likely. Compare one trusted hotspot.
All trusted networks fail
Restart once, verify date and time, check official firmware, then send BOOX a fresh logged reproduction.
Recent owner reports show all three shapes. One Note Air6 C stayed visibly connected but lost internet after a few minutes. A Note 5C worked at home and on a hotspot but not at work. A Go 10.3 report described instability on one shared network. These reports show a useful troubleshooting pattern, not one proven cause or a failure rate.
SAFE, REVERSIBLE CHECKS
Change one condition at a time
- Record the exact symptom.Note the BOOX model, firmware build, network name, time and what fails. Say whether Wi-Fi disconnects, stays connected with no internet, or only one app reports offline.
- Check two destinations.Open a simple known website, then refresh a different app. If the browser works, troubleshoot the app or its service before changing network settings.
- Toggle Wi-Fi once.Use the BOOX Control Center or Settings > Networks > WiFi. Turn Wi-Fi off, wait a few seconds, turn it on and reconnect.
- Restart the BOOX normally.Use the power menu for one restart. BOOX support recommended this in its response to a recent connected-without-internet report.
- Verify date, time and time zone.Use automatic date and time where available, then confirm the displayed time is right. An incorrect clock can make secure websites and app sign-ins fail even while Wi-Fi looks connected.
- Reconnect only if you know the credentials.Forget and rejoin the network when you have its password or enterprise setup details. Forgetting removes the saved configuration, so skip this on managed Wi-Fi until the network owner can help.
- Try one different trusted network.A personal hotspot is a clean comparison. If it works, the tablet radio can connect, but the first network may still have an authentication, sign-in, filtering or compatibility problem. That does not prove the router is defective.
- Check user-added network tools. If you deliberately configured a VPN, firewall, ad blocker or private DNS, pause it for one short test and then restore it. Do not change controls you did not set or do not understand.
Use that working connection to check for an official BOOX firmware update. Do not install a forum package or firmware for a similarly named model. For an update that appears but will not download, use Yeinks's separate BOOX update failure guide.
WORK, SCHOOL AND HOTEL NETWORKS
A password box may not be the whole login
Campus and company Wi-Fi can require an identity, certificate, security method or other fields beyond a shared password. BOOX's current guide says to open Settings > Networks > WiFi, use the plus control, choose the security information that matches the network's type and protocol, then enter the supplied account details.
Ask the network administrator for the exact method. Do not guess certificate settings, accept an unexpected certificate warning or weaken security to make the connection succeed. A hotel, airport or café network may instead need a browser sign-in page. Open a normal website to prompt it, and do not enter sensitive account details on a page whose identity looks wrong.
If a managed network fails but a trusted hotspot works, send the administrator the BOOX model, Android or firmware version, the visible error and the time of the attempt. They can check access-point and authentication logs that the tablet cannot show you.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Do not erase useful evidence
- Do not factory-reset as an opening step. It removes local data and settings without proving whether the fault is the tablet, access point, sign-in service or internet route.
- Do not reset a shared router. Restart only equipment you own and are authorized to manage. A workplace, campus or accommodation network belongs with its administrator.
- Do not weaken Wi-Fi security. Avoid disabling encryption, accepting unknown certificates or changing enterprise protocols by trial and error.
- Do not clear Android system storage from generic advice. BOOX's public Wi-Fi route does not require it, and the effect varies by firmware.
- Do not change DNS, server region, VPN and router settings together. You will not know which change mattered and may create a separate cloud or privacy problem.
- Do not assume one working phone proves the BOOX is faulty. Devices can negotiate security, bands and network policies differently. The second-network comparison is stronger evidence.
WHEN TO STOP
Give BOOX a timestamped reproduction
Contact BOOX when internet repeatedly stops while the Wi-Fi icon remains connected, every independent trusted network fails after one normal restart, or the connection drops at usable range while other BOOX functions remain stable. Also stop if Wi-Fi cannot be switched on, no networks appear anywhere, or the tablet becomes hot or restarts unexpectedly.
Before reproducing the fault, open Settings > FAQ & Feedback and its settings menu, then enable saving logs before restart if your firmware offers it. Reproduce the problem once and immediately use Settings > Feedback > +. Include the model, full build, time, network type, whether another network worked, and the affected apps. Allow encrypted logs when you are comfortable doing so. Share serial numbers or network account details only in a private support channel.
SOURCES AND LIMITS
What is confirmed
BOOX's current support material and recent owner reports were checked on October 19, 2026. BOOX confirms the manual enterprise-network path, its official firmware route and on-device Feedback for software problems. Its recent public support replies also recommend a normal restart, a second network and a logged reproduction. Owner reports establish that the symptom occurs in more than one form, but they do not prove one BOOX-wide defect or one guaranteed fix. Yeinks has not reproduced the problem on hardware.
