Can reMarkable replace a faulty new tablet with a refurbished one?

WHAT THE POLICY SAYS
Refurbished replacements are part of the written warranty
reMarkable includes a one-year limited warranty with tablets and covered accessories purchased from reMarkable or an authorised reseller. It covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, subject to the policy's exclusions.
For an accepted claim, reMarkable says it may offer repair or replacement depending on the defect and circumstances. The same section states that refurbished products may be used as replacements. It also says repairs and replacement parts will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days.
The limited warranty is voluntary cover in addition to mandatory consumer rights. Local law can provide different remedies, so the warranty wording should not be read as a complete statement of your rights in every country.

A refund return and a warranty claim solve the same faulty-device problem in different ways. The warranty route can end with a refurbished replacement. The satisfaction-guarantee route returns the order for a refund, after which you can place a separate new order.
For orders made on remarkable.com, reMarkable currently advertises a 50-day satisfaction guarantee. Its support page says return shipping normally takes two to five business days, warehouse inspection and processing usually takes another four to eight business days, and the bank may then take five to ten business days to show the refund.
If speed matters, ask support for the expected replacement timeline and compare it with a fresh order before changing course. Get confirmation that the refund route applies to your order and defect, then keep the existing case open until the new plan is documented.

Photograph the box, tablet and accessories before setup, including the serial number and any marks.
Test the whole display
Draw a slow grid across the screen, test touch near every edge and refresh several light and dark pages.
Check the essentials
Test charging, Wi-Fi, syncing, the Marker and any included accessories while the return is still fresh.
Keep the case open
Report defects immediately and refer to the original case number, replacement serial number and supporting photos.
Owner discussions include both satisfactory refurbished devices and reports of display tint, ghosting or other faults. These are useful reasons to inspect a replacement carefully, but they do not establish how frequently problems occur.
