A beautiful large color notebook with a very deliberate set of limits.

HOW THIS REVIEW WAS MADE

We have not tested this device ourselves.

This review combines three substantive video reviews, three professional written reviews and four owner discussions. We compared long-term observations, measured testing and official specifications.

The charts show how often a theme appeared across the 10 sources we coded. They are directional, not scientific scores. A report can reveal a problem, but it cannot tell us how common that problem is.

THE SHORT VERSION

The best reMarkable yet, if its particular kind of focus fits your work.

Paper Pro pairs an unusually large 11.8-inch screen with excellent pen response, useful color and a reading light. Reviewers repeatedly praise its writing feel, premium construction and generous space for PDFs, diagrams and long handwritten pages.

It is also heavy, expensive and intentionally restricted. There is no app store or Kindle library, colors refresh with a visible flash, and the screen is darker than white paper. Its simplicity is either the point or the problem.

Best forPeople who want a large, distraction-free notebook for handwriting, PDFs and visual thinking.

DISPLAY & DESIGN

A large canvas that behaves like paper, not an iPad

The 11.8-inch Gallery 3 screen uses colored particles rather than a color filter. That produces clearer colored ink than many Kaleido screens, but changing colors can trigger a visible refresh flash. In everyday terms, writing is quick, while colored pages take a moment to settle.

The aluminum body is only 5.1mm thick and feels premium, but the 525g weight becomes noticeable when held for long periods. The adjustable reading light helps in dim rooms, although it is subtler than a normal tablet backlight.

WRITING & SOFTWARE

Excellent writing with fewer distractions and fewer choices

My Deep Guide measured exceptionally low writing delay and reviewers consistently describe the pen response as immediate. The surface has more texture than reMarkable 2, while the Marker Plus adds a built-in eraser.

reMarkable OS handles notebooks, layers, tags, handwriting conversion, PDFs and cloud imports cleanly. It does not run general Android apps. There is no Kindle store, browser or broad app ecosystem, so files normally arrive through reMarkable apps or supported cloud services.

BATTERY

Strong enough for a workweek, but lighting changes the result

reMarkable claims up to 14 days of regular use from the 5,030mAh battery. Reviews vary with reading-light use, Wi-Fi and page activity, but most describe multi-day or roughly week-long real use rather than Kindle-style months.

These are official maximums, not Yeinks measurements. Heavy lighting, syncing and frequent color refreshes reduce runtime.

YEINKS VERDICT

A superb digital notebook that refuses to become a tablet.

Paper Pro is at its best when the large canvas replaces printed documents, meeting pads and sketchbooks. The writing response, thoughtful software and restrained color system make it unusually pleasant for focused work.

Do not buy it for apps, entertainment or effortless access to commercial ebooks. Buy it because those omissions help you concentrate and because the larger page genuinely improves your work.

Strong fitDesigners, researchers, PDF-heavy work, handwritten planning and distraction-free notes
Weak fitApp-dependent workflows, casual ebook shopping, one-handed reading and budget buyers
