QUICK ANSWER
Prove the data path before resetting anything.
Wake and unlock the Supernote, finish any file or sync activity, then connect it directly to the computer with a cable you know carries data. Skip docks and hubs. Try one other direct port and one other known data cable.
On Windows, look for Supernote in File Explorer. On a Mac, open an MTP app such as OpenMTP because macOS does not show Supernote like an ordinary USB drive. If the tablet appears on another computer, troubleshoot the first computer. If it fails on two computers with known data cables, use Settings > Feedback and contact Supernote. Do not factory-reset or open the tablet.
READ THE SYMPTOM
Charging and file transfer use different parts of the connection
Recent Manta owners have reported a green charging light or Windows connection sound while the tablet itself remains missing from File Explorer. Other reports include a Manta or Nomad working on one computer but not another. These reports establish a useful troubleshooting pattern, not a single confirmed defect.
A USB cable can carry power without carrying data. A port can also charge a device while its data path, hub or computer software is the part that failed. That is why the first checks change one part at a time.
Start with power, cable and port. The tablet may not be receiving power or data.
Power is reaching the tablet. The data cable, port, computer or tablet connection still needs isolating.
Focus on the original computer, port or MTP setup rather than resetting the Supernote.
Stop swapping settings. Send Supernote a video and system logs for a device-side check.
If the Supernote itself is frozen, dark or unable to open Settings, use the separate Supernote Manta frozen guide. This page is for a responsive tablet that will not appear for file transfer.
SAFE CHECKS
Change one link in the chain at a time
- Protect active work.Close the note or document you were editing and let any cloud sync finish. Do not disconnect during a copy, move or update.
- Wake and unlock the Supernote.Keep the Files screen visible while connecting. A sleeping or locked state can change whether an MTP connection is detected.
- Connect directly.Remove the dock, monitor, keyboard hub and adapter if possible. Plug the cable into a computer port rather than a charger.
- Use a known data cable.Try the supplied cable, then one cable that has successfully moved files for another device. A light or battery icon only confirms power.
- Try one other direct port.Wait a few seconds after each connection. Avoid rapid unplugging and reconnecting while the computer is still detecting the device.
- Restart both ends once.Restart the Supernote normally and restart the computer, then repeat the direct connection. Do not use a factory reset.
- Try another computer if available. This is the clearest split. If the tablet appears there, preserve a backup and focus on the original computer. If it fails there too, gather evidence for Supernote.
Do not put a pin or metal tool into the USB-C port, open the back panel, reseat internal connectors or force a loose plug. Do not uninstall random Windows drivers or install beta firmware. Those steps add risk before you know whether the fault follows the tablet.
WINDOWS OR MAC
The expected result is different on each system
Look in File Explorer first
Supernote's manual shows the device in File Explorer, with its folders inside the Supernote storage. If it does not appear, check whether Windows reacts at all and whether the device is listed in Device Manager. Do not delete or replace a driver unless Supernote or the computer maker gives a model-specific instruction.
Open an MTP client
Supernote says macOS requires MTP software, such as OpenMTP or Android File Transfer, for the tablet to appear. Open one MTP client after connecting. Close competing phone-transfer apps if they are trying to claim the same connection.
Check Settings > System > Software Update and compare your version with Supernote's current stable Manta and Nomad changelog. The release history includes earlier fixes for some macOS recognition and USB lock-state problems. That makes a stable update a sensible check, but it does not mean an update will fix every missing connection.
Use the normal stable update route only. If the tablet is already current, record the exact Chauvet version for support instead of repeatedly updating or resetting it.
SUPPORTED WORKAROUND
Browse & Access can move files without the cable
If the tablet and computer can join the same trusted Wi-Fi network, Supernote's Browse & Access feature gives you a temporary local transfer route:
- Open Browse & Access on Supernote.Swipe down from the top and tap its icon. The tablet displays a local address.
- Enter that address in the computer's browser.Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network and approve the connection on Supernote.
- Upload or download the required file.Copy important files rather than moving the only version. Keep the page open until the transfer is complete.
This workaround does not prove the USB hardware is healthy, and it is not a reason to ignore a recurring connection failure. It simply keeps a time-sensitive transfer moving while you preserve evidence. For sensitive work, use a network you trust and close Browse & Access when you finish.
If your concern is files disappearing after a storage operation, stop here and use the separate Supernote missing-files containment guide before syncing or recreating anything.
CONTACT SUPERNOTE
Show which part of the test failed
Contact Supernote when Manta or Nomad stays absent on two computers with known data cables, when the USB-C socket is loose or damaged, or when the connection repeatedly appears and disappears without the cable moving. Also escalate if Windows reports a device error that returns after the direct-port tests.
Record the Supernote model, Chauvet version, computer operating system, the cables and direct ports tested, whether a charging light appeared, whether the computer made a connection sound, and the result on a second computer. Make a short video showing the awake tablet, direct cable and computer response. Keep the serial number and logs private.
Use Settings > Feedback with system logs attached, then email feedback@supernote.com if needed. Supernote lists that address for technical support and says replies usually arrive within three working days.
