THE SHORT VERSION
More capable than a Kindle, calmer than an iPad, but not as simple as either.
The Note Air4 C brings reading, handwritten notes, PDFs and Android apps together on one 10.3-inch E-Ink screen. Reviewers consistently praise its writing feel, built-in notebook tools and access to services such as Kindle, Kobo, OneNote and Google Drive.
The trade-off is complexity. The color screen looks softer and darker than an ordinary tablet, different apps may need their own refresh settings, and battery life can range from several days to a few weeks depending on front light, Wi-Fi and app use. It is powerful, but it expects some setup.

DISPLAY & DESIGN
Useful color, not tablet color
The 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 screen shows black-and-white content at 300 pixels per inch and color at 150 pixels per inch. In plain English, normal text looks sharp, while colored areas look softer. Its 4,096 colors are useful for diagrams, highlights, calendars and comics, but they are muted compared with a phone or iPad.
The color filter also makes the background darker and slightly grainier than a monochrome E-Ink screen. Several owners use the front light more often than expected. Reviewers generally like the slim metal body, wide grip and low weight, although there is no water-resistance rating.
WRITING & SOFTWARE
Its greatest strength is choice
The included pressure-sensitive pen does not need charging. Sources repeatedly praise the textured writing surface and low delay in BOOX's own Notes app. That app includes layers, shapes, handwriting recognition, links and cloud export. The built-in NeoReader app is also a strong tool for marking up PDFs and reading documents beside notes.
Android 13 and the Google Play Store let the device run reading, note and productivity apps that closed systems cannot. That freedom comes with a learning curve. E-Ink refresh modes control the balance between clearer pages and smoother movement, and some third-party apps need individual tuning. BOOX Super Refresh reduces the sluggish feeling, but quicker modes can leave faint traces of previous content. That effect is called ghosting.
BATTERY
Think days or weeks, not a guaranteed number
The 3,700mAh battery has to power Android, a front light and BOOX Super Refresh. Android Authority reported about a week of reading, light notes and occasional front-light use with Wi-Fi switched off when unnecessary. Other reviewers reached two or three weeks with lighter use, while owners running third-party apps or high brightness reported much faster drain.

A brilliant all-rounder for people willing to learn it.
The Note Air4 C works because it does not force readers into one bookstore, one note app or one cloud service. It can replace a pile of notebooks, several reading apps and a basic PDF workflow while remaining easier on the eyes than a conventional tablet.
That versatility is also why it can feel fiddly. Buy it if app choice and document flexibility matter more than simplicity. If you only want focused handwriting, or you expect bright and accurate color, a simpler notebook or conventional tablet may suit you better.
