QUICK ANSWER
An online file does not prove it was uploaded today.
Supernote says changing from Supernote Cloud to Dropbox does not remove files that were already stored in Supernote Cloud. Before changing or deleting anything, copy your important folders to a computer by USB or Browse & Access.
Then check Settings → Drive: confirm Dropbox is selected and Supernote Cloud Auto Sync is off. Next check Settings → My Account → Data Sync and turn off Digest and To-Do sync if you do not want those items sent to Supernote Cloud. Use a harmless test note to see whether a genuinely new file appears. If it does, stop testing and send Supernote the time, settings screenshots and device logs.
IDENTIFY THE SYMPTOM
Separate stored history from continuing sync
A recent Manta owner reported finding current files in Supernote Cloud after selecting Dropbox. Other owners described similar confusion around provider selection and separate data-sync controls. Supernote's public response said old cloud files remain after a switch, new note files should not upload once Supernote Cloud Auto Sync is off, and Digest and To-Do data must be disabled separately.
That gives you a useful test, but not a diagnosis. The reports do not show how common the behavior is, and Yeinks has not reproduced it.
It may be a historical copy. Switching providers does not automatically remove files already uploaded.
That does not match Supernote's documented file-sync conditions. Record it and send logs.
These use separate Data Sync toggles and do not prove that note files are uploading.
The remaining cloud files are probably old copies, but back them up before any cleanup.
Do not place personal, medical, legal or confidential information in a test note. Name it clearly, add only the current date and time, then close it by returning to Files.
FIRST: PROTECT THE NOTES
Make a copy that sync cannot change
Cloud sync is useful, but it is not the same as an independent backup. A deletion or wrong version can be copied between the tablet and cloud. Preserve the current state before you adjust folders, sign out or clean up remote files.
- Pause edits to important notes.Close them and leave the tablet in Files while you prepare a computer copy.
- Copy the folders by USB.On Windows, open the Supernote storage directly. On macOS, Supernote says an MTP transfer app is required.
- Or use Browse & Access on a trusted local network.Download the files from the address shown by the tablet. Keep the tablet and computer on the same Wi-Fi until the copy finishes.
- Record what is online.Take screenshots of the Supernote Cloud filenames and modified times. Do not publish account details or serial numbers.
- Open a few critical copies.Confirm the newest recognizable pages exist on the computer. A folder that copied successfully is not useful if its most important note is stale.
If sync is still active, deletion may propagate to the tablet. Keep the independent computer copy and verify the controls first.
CHECK EVERY CONTROL
File sync and app data are separate
Selected cloud, folders and Auto Sync
Digest and To-Do toggles
- Open Settings → Drive.Confirm Dropbox is the selected service. Do not rely on what the Partner app happens to show.
- Open the Supernote Cloud line.Confirm Auto Sync is off. Supernote's documentation says automatic note uploads require a signed-in account, Supernote Cloud selection and Auto Sync.
- Review the selected folders.Take a screenshot before changing them. Deselecting folders is safer after you have a verified computer copy.
- Open Settings → My Account → Data Sync.Turn off Digest and To-Do data sync if you do not want those items in Supernote Cloud. These controls are separate from the file provider.
- Do not confuse DMS with note storage.Supernote uses its Device Management Server for services such as software updates and the app store. Turning off note sync does not turn the tablet into a permanently offline device.
If you need a fully offline routine, Supernote says the tablet can work without its cloud and supports USB transfer. That is the simplest documented route. Supernote Private Cloud is an advanced, self-hosted option that requires server administration and a correctly configured HTTPS reverse proxy. It is not a quick repair step.
VERIFY THE RESULT
Test once, with a timestamp you can recognize
- 1Create a blank, non-sensitive note.
Use a unique name such as cloud-check-2026-10-17-1430. Add the same timestamp inside it.
- 2Return to Files and wait.
Supernote documents returning to Files as the trigger for Auto Sync when Supernote Cloud and Auto Sync are enabled.
- 3Check Dropbox first.
Run the normal Dropbox sync and confirm the test file reaches the provider you selected.
- 4Check Supernote Cloud or the Partner app.
Look for the exact new filename. Do not infer a new upload from an older folder or cached thumbnail.
- 5Stop after one clear result.
If the new file appears in Supernote Cloud, do not keep creating tests. Capture the time and settings, then contact Supernote.
If no new note appears but Digest or To-Do items do, return to the separate Data Sync controls. If nothing new appears, the cloud library you first saw was probably historical content rather than an active note-file upload.
WHEN TO ESCALATE
A new file appearing with the controls off needs logs
Use Settings → Feedback when a new harmless test note reaches Supernote Cloud even though Dropbox is selected, Supernote Cloud Auto Sync is off and the relevant Data Sync toggles are off. Include the exact filename, local time and time zone, Chauvet version, device model, selected provider, selected folders and screenshots of both settings pages.
Do not factory-reset, repeatedly switch accounts or delete the online library before support responds. Those actions can remove evidence and make it harder to establish which system moved the file.
For regulated or highly confidential work, do not assume that changing one sync setting makes a workflow compliant. Supernote currently says it is not HIPAA-compliant. Use your organization's approved storage and device policy, or keep the tablet offline with local transfers while you get qualified guidance.
